THEIR MISSION
St. Nicholas is a joyful church intent upon finding God in ourselves and
others through fellowship, teaching, reaching out and growing disciples of
Christ. We have a special love for youth and children, and we invite you
to join us on our spiritual journey.
St. Nicholas has three key pieces in its mission: Faith, Ho`okipa
and Spreading the Good News.
Faith – an understanding that God is found in worship, prayer, scripture and the sacraments, and that grace is given to all.
Ho`okipa – the Christian Community. A genuine welcoming of all people. St. Nicholas is intentionally very diverse – people of all races, ages and backgrounds will call St. Nicholas home.
Spreading the Good News – a place of joy, understanding that our lives are improved and even changed when the good news of Jesus comes alive in our hearts.
We opened our doors in December 2002 and have adopted a logo consisting
of people working together as a team in a canoe as they paddle towards the
cross. Christianity is a voyage that we can all take together – come, take
up a paddle and join us on the journey!
HO`OKIPA
Ho`okipa is a Hawaiian word that means ‘welcoming’, and ‘to treat hospitably’.
As St. Nicholas was being created, it was very deliberately decided
that St. Nicholas would be a place where people felt they had come
home – welcoming, accepting, and loving. We hope that everyone feels
welcomed and loved as soon as they walk in the doors and that they
recognize they are a part of the greater Christian community, who loves
each person for who they are, and for no other reason than that!
